Reportedly Scott is not anxious about a fight breaking out with Minaj; rather, he doesn't think the artist with the #1 album should have to sit behind the artist at #2. According to Billboard, Scott's album recorded 205k equivalent-album units last week compared to Minaj's 185k - including 167.5m and 128.7m on-demand streams respectively.
Minaj also took issue with Spotify, which she said failed to promote her album due to her relationship with Apple Music.
Nicki meltdown comes after the rapper's new album "Queen" didn't reach its expected first-week sales targets. Nicki was insistent that she would've sold more copies of her album than Travis if Kylie hadn't posted about her man's merch on Instagram (Kylie also revealed that she will be joining Travis on tour, along with their daughter, Stormi).
Speaking of which, Nicki goes on to indict Spotify for allegedly trying to "teach her a lesson" for inadvertently playing her album on her Apple Radio show prior to its release on Spotify, a mix-up she says she didn't realize had even happened until after the fact. "With no dates for a tour, etc", Minaj tweeted. "Billboard says they'll change the rules cuz of this, so it should be changed now!" I spoke to him last night, and he said he's been selling clothes b4 the music. "He knows he doesn't have the #1 album this week", tweeted Minaj.
Minaj claims Spotify canceled a portion of advertising for her album's rollout after she played her music early on Apple's Beats1. "They took away my promotion they had promised for the 1st cpl days b/c of this".
Minaj further claimed that her label, Cash Money/Republic, didn't want to defend her against Spotify for fears of the platform punishing fellow Republic artist Ariana Grande as a result.
Stormi, what's good? Nicki Minaj is no stranger to rap feuds, but typically her public spats are an 18-years-or-older affair.
Minaj tweeted: "Spotify put drake's face on every playlist but told me they'd have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on #QueenRadio". Her song "Bed" actually saw an increase based on the promotions put behind the campaign.
