At times condescending, at times defensive, Manigault Newsman seemed intent on getting viewers to focus on the question of, as she put it provocatively, her eyes narrowed, "Just who is running the country".
Manigault Newman says she considered the statement a "threat".
Manigault Newman, a former contestant on NBC's "The Apprentice", joined the Trump campaign as the Director of African American Outreach during the 2016 Republican National Convention. "She gladly, spitefully, wrecked her husband's directives to make him look foolish".
Manigault-Newman claims in her tell-all book "Unhinged" that she turned down the deal, in part because of a non-disclosure agreement that would have come with it.

Manigault Newman also alleges that Trump allies tried to buy her silence after she left the White House, offering her $15,000 a month to accept a "senior position" on his 2020 re-election campaign along with a stringent nondisclosure agreement.
She repeatedly told her to calm down and when asked if she actually heard Trump use the racial slur, Omarosa fired back with, "I answered that question, Savannah, so what's the next question?"
But experts in national security and clearance law said that, while she seriously violated rules - and would likely be barred from ever being granted a security clearance - she probably didn't break any law unless the conversations she recorded were classified.
"In my opinion, Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce him", Manigault Newman writes in her new book, Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House.
