"It was up to Bowyer to choose the lane". The crowd responded with a thunderous jeering, and Kyle Busch's eventful evening was off to a roaring start. He just caught me and probably another lap or so he would've went right by. He said, 'Take it, ' and when you trust your team to give you the right stuff setup-wise, you've got to trust the spotter the same way.
"Half his fault, half my fault for following the 14 so long".
Blaney led for a stage-high 113 laps.
"It just matters to win.
I'm glad we did", said Kurt Busch after the race. It's also simply unfair, which is something that Denny Hamlin noted on Twitter Saturday night. Busch held him off, and Larson, victor of the Xfinity Series race on Friday night, finished second in his bid for a Bristol sweep.
Chip Ganassi Racing's Larson finished second, 0.3 seconds behind. Truex slammed the wall, and his shot for a first career short-track win was over.
After spinning near the front of the field on Lap 2 that collected 15 cars and badly damaged his No. 18 Toyota, Busch showed everyone why he's considered one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR.
This wreck capped a tough weekend for Busch, who was knocked out of the Xfinity Series race after leading for the first 70 laps when he crashed due to a flat tire. "Our DC Solar Chevy was not very good from lap 1 to lap 500 there, but we fought and got a second place finish out of it". "Nobody really honestly knows where other teams have gotten speed from, so we're working on all areas, really, I'm pretty sure, to try and get faster". But, we were probably a 12 to 15-place auto, I thought.
"Ifs, ands or buts, we should have never been in that position with how torn up this race auto was". And then would be awful there towards the end of the run. "It's a shame. We had a good thing going", he said. They've had to work on a lot of race cars this year.
"That was just a misjudgment on my behalf", Busch said. The young racer will leave with his 13 top 10 finish this year. "The Big 3" of Harvick, Kyle Busch and Truex had already secured playoff spots alongside Bowyer, Joey Logano, Erik Jones, Chase Elliott and Austin Dillon. Remember, I said should have.
Kyle Busch had an interesting night at Bristol Motor Spedway, to say the least.
In 2014, he won five races in 36 attempts; he has seven wins so far this season with 12 races remaining after Saturday night's Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.
Also caught up in the Lap 2 12-car wreck was defending series champion and four-race victor on the season, Truex.
Just like Busch, the action wasn't done for the night.
Martin Truex Jr. blamed himself for being in position to be wrecked by Kyle Busch and blamed Busch for wrecking him even if it was unintentional during a wild Saturday night for both drivers.
"Knowing there were plenty of laps left, I wasn't even in a hurry, and I just misjudged it by four, six inches, whatever it was, and I clipped him there and sent him for a ride". Hopefully, he's alright and everything is okay there. He's so good that he chose the song "All I Do Is Win" by D.J. Khaled to play as he was introduced before the race.
Busch rebounded from the incident to run as high as second in the late stages of the race only to spin out following a flat tire on Lap 483 of 500, relegating him to his a 20th finishing position.
