Even as the LeBron James version of the Los Angeles Lakers begins to assemble, an iconic 10-story banner of James is about to be removed from a Cleveland building. In particular, the Boston Celtics will benefit the most as they have crashed out in the Conference Finals stage in the last two years, both times notably to a James-led Cleveland Cavaliers team.
According to a report shared by Bleacher Report, Damian Lillard is among the names that the Lakers are interested in acquiring. However, Paul George was in the exact same situation previous year with his sights set on wearing purple and gold, and that didn't work out in the team's favor this summer. However, it is a bit disappointing that the Lakers followed up this momentous occasion by adding players that don't maximize LeBron's chances of competing for a championship this upcoming season. It's one of the most photographed attractions in Cleveland. He shot 43.9 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 36.1 percent of his three-point attempts. Just a couple minutes later the official National Basketball Association store, operated by Fanatics, a sportswear retailer, was preselling LeBron James blanks (meaning the number was listed as "00", but wouldn't be produced until the official number was confirmed).
It's worth asking because, in the past, those players' relationships with James have ranged from occasional irritants to outright nemeses. Leonard's value also decreased once he requested a trade through the media. If not, doesn't it make sense to target him in free agency next summer?
Expect to hear the Lakers remain active in trade discussions throughout the rest of the offseason.
The Indians haven't won the World Series in 70 years, but they came close just two seasons ago.
