Season 5 took place in over the course of three riot-filled days at Litchfield and ended with a number of the inmates - including Piper (Taylor Schilling), Crazy Eyes (two-time Emmy victor Uzo Aduba) and Red (Kate Mulgrew) - awaiting their fate as officers in full battle gear confront them.
After a polarizing Season 5 which followed the real-time rioting of the outraged Litchfield inmates, Season 6 picks up with the law back on hand and cracking down more than ever.
Brace yourself, the ladies of Litchfield are headed to a scary, new maximum security home when Orange is the New Black returns for Season 6, and we now have our first look at the women in action! "It's very different here". "My bunkee, she does four poops a day". Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba) is part of the neutral pink group, Piper (Taylor Schilling) is in blue, and a majority of the longtime series regulars (Yael Stone's Morello, Danielle Brooks' Taystee, and Dascha Polanco's Daya, to name a few) are part of the khakis.
Indeed for a maximum security prison, it seems the color-coded gangs have plenty of opportunity to mix it up. Suzanne declares, "Navigating adult female friendships is so complicated!"
Throughout the trailer, the inmates are seen being interviewed as investigators as they try to pin down the ring leaders behind the riot, and also look to dish out murder charges, tacking on between ten years and life to those already incarcerated.
"You don't know how strong my girls are", Kate Mulgrew's Red utters in her thick Russian accent.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 6 premieres July 27.
