Gregg "Rocky" Brooks alleges that Depp punched him twice in the rib cage in April past year, after he told the actor that they needed to finish up shooting because their film permit was about to expire.
Depp is then said to have added: "I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now". Johnny plays a Los Angeles police detective who investigates the crime. According to Brooks, that's when Depp became volatile and Brooks went to find an LAPD officer for protection. When Brooks approached Depp to tell him there was only going to be one more take, he approached an LAPD officer fearing Depp's reaction to the news, at which point he says Depp punched him in the rib cage twice.
"PLAINTIFF still did not react and DEPP continued to scream and berate him in front of a set full of people until DEPP's own bodyguards physically removed DEPP from the scene".
According to TMZ, Depp screamed at him, saying, "Who the f- are you?"
He also said Johnny's breath reeked of alcohol during the altercation. "You have no right to tell me what to do!"
City Of Lies is due out on September 7.
When Brooks returned to the set three days later, producer Miriam Segal allegedly wanted him to sign a declaration stating that he would not sue the production team.
Depp, as well as City of Lies director Brad Furman and the film's production companies, are being sued for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, negligent hiring and retention of unfit employee, negligent supervision of employee, hostile work environment, wrongful termination in violation of public policy, retaliation, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
As it was previously reported, this is just one of many legal problems faced by Mr. Depp in the last two years, following his divorce with Amber Heard, as well as the $25 million lawsuit he filed against former business managers.
