According to a report from Feedvisor, an algo-based pricing platform for e-tailers, Amazon's Prime Day sales on their third-party marketplace were up almost 90% in the first 12 hours of the mega sale.
While Amazon was experiencing technical difficulties with its website and boycotts over alleged poor treatment of its warehouse staff, the 17% increase in the number of people browsing the internet at the time looking elsewhere for deals ultimately boosted traffic for other online retailers.
The company did not provide total sales figures for the event, which was open only to members of its Prime subscription service across 17 countries, up from 13 past year.
The online retailer does not disclose revenue from the 36-hour event that began on Monday. "Amazon has built a holiday shopping occasion into consumers' consciousness so much so that it is impacting annual spend in a broad section of categories, none larger than Consumer Electronics".
Among the best sellers, according to Amazon, were the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and Echo Dot.

This year Prime Day, Amazon's summer marketing event, started on July 16 and lasted 36 hours. Various industry experts have forecast almost $3.5 billion in GMV for Amazon through Prime Day 2018, which presents a strong investing case considering the strong fundamentals.
