Both fighters fought in March, with Wilder defeating Luis Ortiz in a thrilling, come-from-behind fight where he was almost finished, while Joshua scored a lackluster win on the scorecards over Joseph Parker.
The 6-feet-7, 220-pound Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, doesn't have a mandatory defense of his WBC title due and wants to challenge Joshua next.
Wilder's manager Shelly Finkel later told ESPN they had officially accepted terms to a fight in the UK.
"It's obviously the fight we want, there is a lot of sorting out to do but great news that, in principle, he seems to be on board with the idea of coming to the United Kingdom for fight".
"If for any reason Anthony changes his mind and wants to fight in the U.S, the $50M offer we have made to him is still there", Finkel said. The $50M offer for him to fight me next in the U.S. is still available.
"We see this as a Wembley fight and we're quite limited in that respect", said Hearn.
"It's obviously the fight we want. Hopefully, we'll get an answer in the next couple days", Finkel said.
"We've got to get to the bottom of it all today". "But obviously this Canelo fight on September 15 makes it a little more hard with U.S. TV".
"Our original plan and hope was to do it in the middle of September, but obviously this "Canelo" fight on September 15 makes it a little more hard with US TV and the fact that we've lost four weeks in waiting for an answer from Deontay Wilder, makes the fight happening in 11 or 12 weeks of this magnitude unlikely. It's up to them to choose".
Surely Joshua will agree and send the contract to Wilder. A Joshua-Wilder fight on the service would raise its now nonexistent American profile, but it would also limit the USA revenue for the bout.
Joshua, who won his first world title by stopping Charles Martin in 2016, scored his biggest victory to date the following year by rising from the canvas to knock out former champion Wladimir Klitschko in front of 90,000 spectators in London. October or November are being considered, though it is understood that the latter is more likely, and Cardiff would be the principle option because it is indoors.
