Bella Cariaga's Facebook photos tell a story about her life working for Kate Spade over the past couple of years and include her time spent with Spade's daughter, Frances Beatrix "Bea" Spade. That's because the night before, the grieving dad said his 55-year-old daughter sounded "happy" during their last ever phone call.
Elsewhere, Saffo claimed she tried to help her sister to receive help for her bipolar disorder, for which she claimed Spade refused to receive treatment for.
Reports that Cariaga and Spade were close friends has at least some evidence to back it up.
The brand, with which she was involved until her death, focuses exclusively on shoes and handbags. Not surprisingly, the shoe that originally retailed for around $400 is sold out everywhere. It had been reported that the fashion designer fell into deep depression days before hanging herself because her husband moved out of their home had sought a divorce.
The businessman also condemned media speculation about Spade's "business problems" and "substance abuse" in the leadup to her death, and says he is "appalled" by reports of a note found in her apartment. This is not your fault.
Her husband disputes that saying he has not seen any note at all.
"There was no indication and no warning that she would do this", he said. Andy Spade, her husband, addresses those matters and more in his statement. I beat cancer! Let's celebrate! "She'd been taking some pills, which I advised her not to take".
"Kate suffered from depression and anxiety for many years".
A housekeeper discovered her body in her bedroom, and police say she left a note that pointed to "a tragic suicide".
Cariaga found Spade "unconscious and unresponsive" in her Park Avenue apartment and went for help. She apparently leaned forward to cause the ligature to tighten around her neck. "We should all remember the beauty and joy that Kate brought to this world". They named their second organization after their 13-year-old daughter.
Spade's family said it was "devastated" by her death. "We loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly. We once again ask that the family's privacy be respected during this challenging time".
Also speaking out about the tragedy was actor and comedian David Spade, who is Andy Spade's brother.
