"I've had a few, there have been some tough times", he confessed. "When the band started our break (in 2015) I struggled with the idea of becoming famous again, it scared the living daylights out of me", Liam shared, "because the last time it almost killed me, frankly". Liam has also found every aspect of his personal life becoming tabloid fodder, thanks to his relationship with pop star Cheryl, the mother of his baby son Bear, but he's learned it's best just to shrug off unfounded rumours about their romance. The 24-year-old star - who is joined by Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson the band, who went on hiatus in 2015 - said: "I'm sure there's time for that to come back around".
His One Direction bandmates Harry Styles and Niall Horan have already released solo albums, with Styles hitting the number one spot past year, while Louis Tomlinson is also set to release his own album.
He went on to praise those who had supported him over what has been almost a decade in the public eye.
"I miss being with the boys; that was so much fun", Payne said of his former bandmates.
But he also spoke about having a "fantastic life" now. "They don't have to be a psychologist - just people who are friendly, someone to talk to", he added.
Exciting fans, Liam revealed the group had already discussed their comeback.
The idea of being famous, living their lavish lifestyle, being adored by fans and being paid an eye-watering amount for posting a picture, is for many, THE DREAM.
The announcement of the the release date for Liam's debut album comes after producer Steve Mac revealed that the singer's record was "going to be a compilation album".
