The women's tennis program has been honored 10 consecutive times, while the men's tennis program was recognized for the fifth time and fourth consecutive. "To rank among the top 10 percent of programs in the nation, in their respective sports, is a remarkable accomplishment. Their academic achievement is a testament to the dedication of our student-athletes, coaches and staff in our continued focus on student-athlete success".
GW's women's cross country, golf, men's soccer, softball, men's tennis, men's and women's track and women's water polo teams were honored. The nine recognitions for women's golf is a program record. The women's golf program has also been exceptional on the course winning a school-record seven tournaments in 2017-18.
Altogether Baylor has received 19 public April awards in seven different sports, including baseball (2007, 2012, 2018), men's basketball (2009, 2018), men's cross country (2006, 2011), men's golf (2010), women's golf (2009, 2010, 2015) soccer (2018) and softball (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018).
The NCAA has recognized a total of 77 Penn State teams with a Public Recognition Award since the program's inception in 2006. Prior to the most recent award, gymnastics was recognized in 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12. The Nittany Lions have had at least three squads earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards in all 13 years of the program. Flood was the Rutgers coach for the first 2 1/2 years of that four-year span.
Each year, the NCAA honors selected Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear NCAA Division I April. The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement. Thus, all three programs were recipients of the NCAA's Public Recognition Award, which goes to programs with a multi-year April in the top 10 percent nationally of all squads in each sport. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
