Last week Facebook announced that it is initiating a reorganization that is going to include a new Blockchain to address privacy concerns relating to the platform. In a post written by Ale Flores, AWS' Global Segment Lead for Blockchain, he explains that Kaleido will allow businesses to create consortiums and "operate enterprise blockchain networks".
Amazon Web Services has announced a new collaboration with Ethereum development studio ConsenSys which will result in the launch of Kaleido, a blockchain business cloud created to streamline and simplify the creation, deployment, and operation of private blockchain networks for enterprise organizations. "We are excited to work with Telefónica to enable the digital transformation of enterprise customers and help them leverage the scalability and breadth of services that AWS offers".
Kaleido is a blockchain business cloud, and enterprise is in its DNA.
"It will be the first blockchain software as a service (SaaS) and will be able to "[link] between private networks and the public Ethereum mainnet".
"Introducing Kaleido to AWS customers is going to help customers move faster and not worry about managing blockchain themselves", Amazon Web Services said in a statement. The service offers the ability to switch between configurations of the underlying Ethereum protocol.
Users can quickly change the consensus algorithm to tailor the network to specific requirements ... "ConsenSys and AWS coming together to deliver a next generation Enterprise Ethereum service is a game-changer". Justo Ortiz, Chairman of the Board for UnionBank said, "Our team was inspired to harness blockchain in order to reach farther into our rural communities of the Philippines". Although the company has a commanding lead in the public cloud market, rivals Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and others have been doubling down on their efforts to increase market share during a period when late-to-the-cloud enterprises are beginning to move away from traditional stand-alone data center models to adopt hybrid cloud approaches.
For ConsenSys, the goal is simple: build a decentralized world by conquering the complexities of blockchain for enterprises and driving seamless adoption.
Joseph Lubin, founder of ConsenSys and the ethereum blockchain platform, said this is "the biggest move yet by the tech giant to get into blockchain".
John Hurley, Ryanair's CTO, said: "Machine learning is hugely important to our growth, and we're pursuing a variety of AWS machine learning services, including Amazon SageMaker, to enhance customer UI experience and personalise the MyRyanair portal for every unique traveller". "This may be considered the first major link forged in the internet of blockchains". ConsenSys is dedicated to growing the Ethereum-based blockchain ecosystem through various domains including ConsenSys Solutions, ConsenSys Capital, ConsenSys Labs, and ConsenSys Academy.
