The Trump campaign spent about $3.9 million in the first quarter of 2018, the report said, with nearly $835,000 going to eight law firms and the Trump Corp.
In addition to raising money for his own campaign, Trump has also collected funds for joint efforts with the Republican National Committee, which uses that money to help congressional candidates. One other unusual facet of the campaign's money operation: Roughly $1 in every $5 spent is going toward legal fees, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale's consulting firm was the largest single recipient of campaign cash, receiving $1.7 million for digital and advertising services. Typically, the current President of the United States were waiting for the second year in office to begin his re-election campaign. Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing to have the nondisclosure agreement invalidated.
Trump's campaign has reportedly used millions of his campaign cash in the past year to pay legal fees, including some fees associated with responding to the Russian Federation investigation being conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. All told, the $20.2 million raised by the three committees is up significantly from the $12.5 million raised in the previous quarter. Those small-dollar donors gave $8.7 million of that amount.
The campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The campaign has also paid Parscale Strategy, the firm run by the 2020 reelection campaign manager Brad Parscale, almost $1.7 million so far this year.
Johnny McEntee, Trump's former personal assistant who was forced out when he couldn't be get security clearance, was hired by the campaign in March. McEntee was sacked from the White House amid a Department of Homeland Security investigation into possible financial crimes, a source told CNN after he was dismissed.
