The "regular" Moto E5 (as I've taken to calling it) has an entirely plastic back, but one that masks its price with a metallic paint that initially feels like a thin sheet of metal.
This year Motorola's releasing the Moto G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play. The G6 will retail for around $249.
Motorola sure has packed a lot into the Moto G6. However, we won't know for sure until we're able to conduct some testing in our lab. Carriers will be looking for a replacement.
Currently, it's unclear just how much of a difference the Moto G6 Plus' specs will actually make over the Moto G6.
Along with reliability and a solid name, Motorola is known for good software. Moto doesn't bother messing with Google's icons or adding redundant apps, and a lot of people appreciate that.
Of course, something's got to give to keep the price down, but in the case of the Moto G6 I think the compromises that have been made are the right ones.
Compared to the rest, the battery is small at 2,800mAh. This new display is called Max Vision and has reduced bezels on the sides.
Below you'll see the E5 Plus in Black and Mineral Blue.
To get the quick take on the E5 and E5 Plus, you'll want to watch our hands-on video above. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC, which works in tandem with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The definition is however lower than the other two devices, and the fingerprint reader for this model is located on the back.
While this is enough to run the stock Android 8.0 Oreo interface, it's not going to set any benchmark or speed records.
What's the downside? That screen is not very sharp, and also not very bright.
Moto Z Play was launched back in 2016 with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The secondary camera ships with a revised Beautification mode and also offers some kind of slow-motion shooting capabilities, though Motorola has yet to elaborate on the matter. Just like the Moto G6, the G6 Plus has a p2i water-resistant coating instead of a full IP-rating. Users are advised to connect to a secure Wi-Fi to download 1GB worth Android 8.0 Oreo update in order to prevent using up your daily quota of data.
In the United Kingdom the E5 release date is set for June and the handset will be available from a number of retailers including Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, Amazon and Argos.
Amazon also listed the "Moto G6 32GB model" on its Canada and USA sites last week.
The device houses a rear-facing fingerprint sensor.
With this model, Motorola offers a little bit bigger screen with a similar design that resembles the older Motorola X. The screen will be 5.9 inches with an FHD+ enabled feature for the better experience Along with a 4,000 mAh battery.
Both handsets support fast charging, which Moto brands as TurboPower (you have to say that in an Austin Powers voice).
That's not all the Moto G6's camera can do.
On the new G6 there's a dual rear camera - 12MP & 5MP, f/1.8. You can create bokeh effects that you can alter before or after snapping the picture, and you can do a "selective black-and-white" that only maintains color in one part of the image. The Plus version also supports Bluetooth 5.0, while the other two settle for Bluetooth 4.2.
The smartphone flaunts a slightly larger 5.7-inch HD+ display.
The two unlocked units have nearly all of the LTE bands that all the United States carriers support, but won't have T-Mobile's new Band 71 unless T-Mobile requests it, Moto reps said. Be on the lookout for full reviews soon.
