Following yesterday's news about the Sega Ages lineup for Nintendo Switch, the company has since come out with even more news about the initiative. Plus Genesis versions of Thunder Force IV, Sonic the Hedgehod, and the original arcade version of Gain Ground. On the heels of NIS America announcing that it will release a compilation of classic SNK games on the Switch, Sega is following suit. The new titles will be released under the company's retro gaming label, Sega Ages.
Just a few hours ago, we reported on the news that Sega would be introducing a number of classic games from its library on the Nintendo Switch, under the brand name Sega Ages.
Sega Ages was a series of retro compilations released on the Sega Saturn back in mid-90s. The only downside is that the games aren't fully remastered titles, so some fans might be a bit disappointed with the graphics. As such, we prefer to treat these revelations as rumors until the Pokemon Company itself confirms these details regarding the Pokemon Nintendo Switch game. The last Pokemon game to be released was Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which was released on the Nintendo 3DS. The Sega Mega Drive Mini is actually a mini version of the Genesis, which was sold as the Mega Drive outside the U.S. The SNES Classic console was such a hit this past holiday season that Sega probably envisions a similar fate for its nostalgic mini console.
This suggests that this will be how SEGA decide on other ports at this time. M2 was also responsible for the Game Boy Advance line of Virtual Console titles on Wii U.
