Remember a short while ago when there was an apparent leak going around showing off what was supposed to be the Nintendo Switch OS update 5.0? The firmware 5.0 update would bring features including Youtube, full web browser, cloud storage, chat rooms, themes and more, shown off in a "leaked video".
Yes, the newest update to the Switch Parental Controls App directly mentions the 5.0.0 Switch update, and states that some of the new parental control features will not be available until the launch of the new Switch system firmware. Facebook and Twitter friends that also use Nintendo Switch can now be added through Friend Suggestions and digital software purchases made from a PC or smart device will start downloading sooner than previously, even if the Nintendo Switch console is in Sleep Mode.
Still on Parental Controls, Nintendo has changed the default method for typing Parental Controls PIN.
The free app lets parents easily monitor how much their child plays on Nintendo Switch, choose how long they can play for each day, and set restrictions to limit what they can access. If you want more information about the changes, and how to implement them, the Nintendo support page for the update has you covered. Captured videos in your Album are now restricted based on your Restricted Software settings and Software Rating Organization, and the ability to add certain games to your "whitelist" so your Restricted Software settings don't apply has also been added. Nintendo apparently codes the color of the grip electronically inside the controller.
If the speculations are right then Nintendo might be preparing to roll out Nintendo Switch firmware Update 5.0.0 in near future. Once the download is complete though, they need to manually install the update.
