A blizzard warning expired Friday but whiteout conditions were still possible around Lake Tahoe, where a winter storm warning remained in effect until 10 am Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

An avalanche has prompted the closure of the Squaw Valley ski resort in Northern California.
Placer County Sheriff's Deputies are on the scene of an avalanche at Squaw Valley on Friday. Another guest was rescued and transported to Tahoe Truckee Medical Group at the base of Squaw Valley and treated and released.
Five guests were caught in the avalanche, two females and three males. More than 100 ski patrollers, emergency responders and numerous rescue dogs responded.
The trigger of the avalanche is unknown. All reported missing persons are accounted for at this time, and search operations have officially concluded.
High winds and the threat of avalanches postponed the opening of several area ski resorts Friday morning.
"We hope for the full and speedy recovery of the injured guests, and extend our thoughts and support to all those involved", the resort said in its statement.
A Squaw Valley official told KCRA that teams are actively responding to the situation.
