A man, who is a father of three kids, left his wife to start an incestuous relationship with his biological daughter and now, they have a child of their own.
After an in-depth investigation, authorities obtained arrest warrants for both Katie and her father. Steven Pladl has since made bond, but Katie Pladl remains behind bars.
According to an arrest warrant, she learned previous year from her other children with Pladl that Katie was pregnant with his baby, and they had been told to call her their stepmum.
Steven Pladl, 42, of Knightdale, and his daughter Katie Pladl, 20, were arrested January 27 after Pladl's estranged wife reportedly told police about the pair's baby.
According to the arrest warrants, Katie, 20, was legally adopted out of state when she was born.
Child services in Richmond, Virginia, where Steven and Katie were living at the time, were informed and interviewed the two other children, who confirmed their mother's allegations. When she turned 18, Katie reached out to Steven and her mother through social media. Tensions arose, and Steven and his wife legally separated in November of that year.
Warrants say Steven Pladl told his other children to call Katie Pladl their step-mom. He allegedly told her he planned to marry their daughter. Police said at some point after May 2017, Katie and Steven moved into a home together.
The wife then contacted Steven and challenged him about the issue, which he confirmed was true and added that he and Katie were planning to get married, a court heard last week.
Officers found them at an address with a four-month-old boy, believed to be theirs.
In November previous year, warrants were issued for their arrest.
The pair now face charges of adult, adultery and contributing to delinquency, according to reports. When police arrested father and daughter, a baby boy, born in September 2017, was with them. Steven bonded out of jail, but Katie is still being held in the Wake County Detention Center pending extradition to Virginia. It is not clear who the child is now in the custody of.
Both were each issued a $1 million bond.
