Former Liverpool manager Souness believes this apparent discord between the player and club only serves to create a toxic atmosphere within the team.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reiterated his great admiration for Alexis Sanchez, but said he was not attempting to lure the Arsenal forward to Stamford Bridge when the two were pictured in conversation earlier this week.
'We're only second guessing. But sometimes it can happen: on the table there's a fantastic opportunity and you fight for that opportunity. Sanchez wants to be around players who are as good as him, maybe even some that he believes are better than him.
"These guys want to win, and they want to make money as well".
Sanchez trained normally yesterday but Wenger did not want him to come to Bournemouth then have to travel up to Manchester, so he was left back in London instead.
And Wenger is growing increasingly confident of having Ozil at the club next season and beyond. "Apart from that, he is an Arsenal player and I feel I shouldn't say much more than this".
If Souness's advice is heeded, however, the saga may well be resolved very soon.
A host of top English clubs including league leaders Manchester City and their domestic rivals Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Chile worldwide, though the Blues boss has now confirmed that the Londoners will not be part of this.
The Frenchman signed a new two-year deal ahead of this season and it is understood there is no break clause in the contract. "So I wait, and I take a chunk of that contract as a signing fee", Wenger said.
