Unfortunately Sky has long since stopped providing a breakdown of their broadband figures, although we estimate that they have a total base in the United Kingdom and Ireland of somewhere between 6.1 and 6.2 million (out of 12.9 million total retail customers).
TV and telecoms provider Sky has announced plans to offer its television channels without the need for satellite dishes.
On the financial front Sky UK saw their 12-month rolling churn fall from 11.6% a year ago to 11.2% today, while their Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) fell from £47 to £46 over the same period.
Origial hit shows such Riviera and Tin Star in the UK, Babylon Berlin, its first original drama in Germany, and the third series of Gomorrah in Italy helped to boost customer numbers by 350,000, taking the total to 22.9 million.
The board explained that it was investing for future growth, with its Sky Mobile offer said to be "scaling well", along with successful launches of Sky in Spain and Switzerland.
Chief executive Jeremy Darroch cheered an "excellent" set of results against a hard consumer market, with household finances under pressure. Meanwhile revenue for H1 2018 stood at £4,438m (up from £4,267m in the same period last year) and EBITDA for their established business reached £973m (up from £841m).
Operationally, Darroch said the company saw "good customer demand" for its products and services.
"In addition, we have made further strong progress on operational efficiency, keeping operating costs flat in absolute terms".
"Following both critical success and record audiences for Sky Original productions, we will be increasing our investment significantly in original content in each and every year".
It meant that Sky sold more than 60 million individual products and now has nearly 23 million customers. We are differentiating our programming to other services, with a distinct focus on creating content that is local to our key markets.
Looking ahead, the company expects the consumer environment to remain challenging, however it remains confident in strategy and ability to execute plans.
